Is Fear Preventing Proper Dental Care?
If fear is keeping you from visiting our office, your not alone. About 30 million Americans feel this way. So there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Just know that we can help. At Southern Dental, we provide a variety of ways to help you put the fear behind you and keep your teeth healthy. For some people, that might mean breathing in a little laughing gas (nitrous oxide) and for others a more advanced form of sedation dentistry. We’ll help you find your comfort zone.
Conscious Sedation Dentistry
You’ll be able to rest comfortably while we work on your teeth with conscious sedation dentistry. Some call this “sleep dentistry” because the appointment will feel like a dream afterward, but you’ll actually remain conscious and awake throughout the entire procedure. The prescription sedative that you’ll take prior to your appointment will take away your fear, help make the procedures painless and even help you forget the details of the appointment—so you don’t have anxiety about future visits. You’ll be in good hands the entire time, as both Dr. Lorenzi and Dr. Danenberg have received advanced training in conscious sedation dentistry.
IV Sedation Dentistry
In some cases, intravenous (IV) sedation may be the right solution. IV sedation has the same benefits as conscious sedation achieved with a pill, but the sedative medicine is given directly into the blood stream. For IV sedation we bring a licensed anesthesiologist into our office. Dr. Lorenzi has received advanced training in intravenous sedation.
Let us help you overcome your fear of visiting a dentist with the sedation option appropriate for you.
