What is a periodontist?

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in gum disease, oral inflammation and placement of implants. Dr. Danenberg, Southern Dental’s periodontist, has gone through extensive training in these areas, allowing him to provide expert care using the most advanced techniques.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are an alternative to bridges and dentures for those who are missing teeth due to disease or injury. Implants are an excellent solution when only one tooth is missing, but can also be used for more extensive tooth replacement. Implants use a small metal anchor attached to the jaw bone to which an artificial tooth is attached. The result is a stronger bond than dentures and doesn’t affect the neighboring teeth like a bridge. Implants allow you to eat foods you couldn’t with dentures. For many patients, implants also reduce self consciousness, allowing them to laugh and smile confidently again.
